Tras un single de debut en 1977, la banda punk de Edimburgo The Rezillos firmó con Sire, lo que llevó a la banda a grabar su aclamado debut Can’t Stand the Rezillos en Nueva York, donde el coproductor Bob Clearmountain sacó lo mejor de sus habilidades. El himno “Top of the Pops” alcanzó el top-20 en el Reino Unido y las animadas versiones punk de “Glad All Over” de Dave Clark Five, “Like It” de Gerry & The Pacemakers y “Omebody’s Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonight” de Fleetwood Mac aumentaron su atractivo.
